Who it's for

  • For customers wanting to apply online, they will require an Australian residential address.
  • If you're already a CommBank customer, you'll need your NetBank Client Number. If you're not already a CommBank customer, your Australian driver's licence, Medicare card, passport or Australian birth certificate to identify yourself.
  • You'll need to link an eligible CommBank transaction account to your NetBank Saver. Eligible accounts can be a Smart Access, Complete Access, Everyday Offset, Pensioner Security, or Streamline Basic with CommBank in the same name as the NetBank Saver account. If you're new to CommBank or don't have an existing eligible transaction account to link to your NetBank Saver, then we'll open an eligible transaction account for you when you open a NetBank Saver. Fees may apply to these accounts.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • No conditions. You earn the same rate every month, with no deposits to make or withdrawals to avoid.

Cons

  • A lower rate. Up to 2.30%, below the typical 3.65%, so your savings grow more slowly than in many other accounts.
  • An intro rate. Part of the rate lasts 5 months, then drops, so check again when it ends.
