NAB REWARDS GUIDE.

NAB Rewards is a loyalty program from National Australia Bank that allows customers to earn and redeem points for a wide range of products, services, and experiences. Whether you're a frequent traveller, a homebody, or an avid shopper, NAB Rewards offers something for everyone.

And best of all, your capacity to earn NAB Rewards Points is not limited in any month.

Have you checked how your card stacks up against the latest NAB Rewards credit cards?

Earning NAB Rewards Points

NAB Rewards Points can be earned by using eligible NAB credit cards, personal loans and transaction accounts. When you use your NAB card to make purchases, you'll earn Points that can be redeemed for various rewards, from flights and hotels to shopping vouchers and experiences.

Sign up for a NAB Rewards credit card

Typically there are generous sign up bonuses available when signing up for a new NAB Rewards card. Although they vary over time, what NAB offers is typically competitive with what's available on the broader market.

  • NAB Rewards Platinum Card. A typical offer for it would be around 70,000-80,000 NAB Rewards Points, earned after spending a reasonable amount on everyday purchases within a specific period of time. In the past, NAB have offered additional bonus NAB Rewards Points for simply keeping your card for more than 12 months.
  • NAB Rewards Signature Card. This is the high-end NAB Rewards credit card, and one of the most prominent rewards credit cards in Australia. A typical sign up bonus offer is for more than 100,000 NAB Rewards Points, earned after spending several thousand dollars on eligible purchases within a specific period of time starting from the account opening date. NAB may pay an additional bonus for retaining the card for over a year.

Eligible spending

You'll need to use your NAB credit cards for eligible purchases to earn NAB Rewards points. Eligible purchases include groceries, dining, entertainment, and travel. Some NAB credit cards also offer bonus points for specific types of spending, such as dining or travel. These "boosted" offers are often time-limited.

It's worth noting that ineligible transactions, i.e. those that will not earn NAB Rewards Points, include cash advances and cash equivalent transactions such as funding a money transfer, online and offline gambling-related purchases, buying traveller's cheques, buying foreign currency, and balance transfers.

Redeeming NAB Rewards Points

NAB Rewards Points can be redeemed for a wide range of products, services, and experiences, including flights, hotels, shopping vouchers, and experiences. To redeem, log in to your NAB Rewards account and select the reward you want.

Here are a few ways you can redeem your NAB Rewards Points.

  • Flights. Book flights with any airline through NAB Rewards, using Points to pay for all or part of your fare.
  • Hotels. Book hotels in popular destinations worldwide and pay with your NAB Rewards Points.
  • Gift cards. Redeem Points for gift cards with popular brands and retailers, including Coles, Woolworths, Bunnings, and JB HiFi.
  • Experiences. Book unique experiences like wine tours, cooking classes, and adventure excursions.
  • Cashback. Get cashback directly into your NAB account or NAB Rewards card.
  • NAB Rewards Store. Buy electronics, clothing, furniture, etc. using NAB Rewards Points. (Generally a poor value redemption.)

Transfer partners

Like most bank-operated rewards programs, you can transfer NAB Rewards Points to several airline partners. In our opinion, this makes it easier to book rewards seats since your choice is not limited to a single airline or alliance. The list of transfer partners is similar to those available with the rewards programs of the other Big Four banks.

  • Air New Zealand Airpoints. Transfer 200 NAB Rewards Points to 1 Airpoints Dollar.
  • Cathay Pacific Asia Miles. Transfer 3 NAB Rewards Points to 1 Asia Mile.
  • Flybuys. Transfer 1 NAB Rewards Point to 1 Flybuys point.
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer. Transfer 3 NAB Rewards Points to 1 KrisFlyer Mile.
  • Velocity Frequent Flyer. Transfer 2 NAB Rewards Points to 1 Velocity Point.
